FRIED GREEN TOMATOES WITH BUTTERMILK RANCH

Ingredients
  

  • 4 firm green tomatoes sliced ½-inch thick
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • ½ cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper
  • Oil for frying

Instructions
 

  • Dip tomato slices in buttermilk, then dredge in flour/cornmeal mixture. Heat ½ inch oil in skillet. Fry tomatoes 2–3 minutes per side until golden. Drain on paper towels, serve hot with buttermilk ranch.
